Your journey begins here...
It is important that we, the patient and I, develop a plan that best fits that person’s natural figure, expectations, lifestyle, and budget. I believe in fundamental procedures that offer the most lasting outcomes and never forget the fact that we are partners in this venture.

Dr. Spann graduated magna cum laude from the University of Louisiana and subsequently earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery, having completed a full five years of general surgery at Methodist Hospital in Dallas. He was continually acknowledged as performing at a high clinical and academic level. This was evident by his average score of 97th percentile on the American Board of Surgery In-service exam – having the highest national score in several of those years. Dr. Spann consistently earned the respect of his peers.
During his residency, Dr. Spann spent a great amount of time under numerous aesthetic surgeons in Dallas. This fueled his interest in plastic surgery and led him to author a volume of research papers on a variety of surgical topics. Furthermore, he presented nationally on numerous occasions, including presentations to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the meeting for Aesthetic Reconstruction in Children and Adults.
“My fifteen years of intense undergraduate, medical school, and surgical training prepared me for the rigors of a plastic surgical practice. The options of surgeons available to individuals can be daunting. It is important that patients feel confident in the expertise I provide. I am privileged to have trained under some of the best surgeons available and I am fortunate to extend those legacies to my own practice.”
Plastic Surgery Training
Dr. Spann went on to complete an accredited plastic surgery residency at the University of Nebraska, training in the prestigious institutions of Creighton and the Nebraska Medical Center, one of the largest medical communities in the Midwest. This involved extensive training in oncologic reconstruction with renowned otolaryngologists and breast surgeons. He also trained under some of the most experienced and preeminent reconstructive plastic surgeons in the region, learning the latest techniques in reconstructive surgery.
“So much of what I do involves very personal areas, such as the breast or face. This must be kept in mind as we decide to perform surgery on these regions of the body. My objective is to delicately improve them so as to not lose the identification of one’s self but rather experience a natural improvement.”
Fostering a substantial interest in the field of aesthetic surgery during his plastic surgery residency, Dr. Spann graduated with an unparalleled experience in face, nose, and breast cosmetic surgery. Training with the top surgeons in Dallas and the Midwest, he intensely studied the latest techniques and was frequently acknowledged by these surgeons for his results and instincts for the art of aesthetic surgery. To maintain this level, he regularly travels throughout the country to research techniques on facelift, rhinoplasty, and other procedures.
Dr. Spann also trained to provide reconstructive surgery to children born with congenital defects. He finds these cases to be his most gratifying and humbling experience as a physician. He continues these ventures to provide appropriate medical care to those in need.
Based on this extensive amount of experience from many of the preeminent authorities in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Spann, a person native to the Midsouth, takes great pride and pleasure in calling Arkansas his home. Bringing with him a world-class training.
Dr. Spann is Board Certified in both General Surgery, by the American Board of Surgery, and Plastic Surgery, by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. These boards are recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialities and represent the highest in training, testing and qualifications.
In order to be Board Certified in Plastic Surgery, Dr. Spann completed a full five years of General Surgery followed by two years dedicated to Plastic Surgery. This was followed by 18 months of intensive testing and practice evaluation. Dr. Spann received an additional focus of training in cosmetic and aesthetic surgery, especially in the areas of facelifting (rhytidectomy), rhinoplasty (nose jobs), breast surgery (augmentation, lift, reduction, reconstruction), and abdominoplasty.
Not to be confused with the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery or the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Board of Plastic Surgery is one of a few surgical specialities recognized by the stringent qualifications of the American Board of Medical Specialities and is the only such board that involves the practice of aesthetic medicine and surgery. Thereby, the designation of Board Certified in Plastic Surgery carries the distinction of a surgeon qualified to the highest of standards, ethics, and capabilities in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
"Having achieved the Board Certification designation is a great accomplishment for me. It signifies the pinnacle of surgical education and has prepared me for the patients I have today. For example, evaluating the changes needed to achieve a profound result on facelift or rhinoplasty relates directly to those cases in which I built a portion of the face missing from trauma or congenital defects. The multitude of mastectomies and breast reconstructions I performed during residencies give me a definite edge when evaluating someone for a breast aug, lift, or reconstruction because I've seen the breast from all aspects and feel comfortable in what can and cannot be achieved safely and reliably."
"I do not envision my patient relationship as a single experience. I want to take time to fully understand their needs, so that I can provide the highest level of safety, discretion, and care. Cosmetic surgery involves a lifetime of personal attention. I largely focus on the restoration of beauty and form in a natural manner. Your decision to have surgery is an important one and should be tailored to your individual goals and needs. From the initial consult to the last postoperative visit and beyond, I want you to feel comfortable and informed with the details of each process.
Other times, we desire to restore a natural figure to that which has been removed. Reconstructive surgery continually develops to address these defects. This restorative process is equally important to our team in that we understand the emotions and trials patients endure. Our focus is to make the body whole again in the most delicate ways.”
